The Database Engineering Manager will provide leadership, support and coaching to 4 direct reports in addition to being highly hands-on with all Oracle DBA activities supporting several business-critical applications used in sites worldwide. This includes:
• Establishing and maintaining high-quality relationships with all levels across the company and with external partners.
• Leading efforts to reconcile Oracle licensing issues across sites worldwide.
• Providing hands-on analysis and support to ensure data integrity is maintained for all globally-deployed instances.
• Supporting complex data architecture, query and stored procedure development, and utility/tool selection support in the development environment.
• Providing technical support for scheduled and ad-hoc data migration needs.
• Giving direction and counseling for project and department-specific documentation requirements and maintaining documentation and records for area of responsibility.
• Leading efforts to standardize execution and verification of installation and upgrade tasks for similar database products used in multiple applications.
• Developing service level agreements for support of database instances deployed worldwide.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor`s Degree with twelve years experience in IT.
• Minimum of eight years experience as an Oracle DBA on Oracle 9i and 10g in the design, testing, implementation and administration of database management systems.
• Extensive technical training and experience in Database Administration, Performance and Tuning, and Backup and Recovery for Oracle products running in the Windows environment is required.
• Minimum three years experience in management / team leadership of Oracle DBAs is required.
• Oracle RDBMS on Windows platform, Partitioning, RMAN backup and recovery, export/import, operating system backups, shell scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, SQLLDR, and performance tuning.
• Strong problem-solving skills with recovering from backups and complex performance tuning.
• Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Candidates must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Candidates must have the ability to work with all levels of personnel including developers, testers, support personnel, project managers, senior management, and non-technical system owners and users.
Preferred Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, operating system interaction, and shell scripting on UNIX HP-UX and Open-VMS.
• Knowledge of Oracle on 64-bit platforms.
• Knowledge of Oracle Text.
• Familiarity with SQL Server.
• Solid knowledge w open source database management systems.
• Experience with Documentum document management system.
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment is highly desired.
